Training architects of the aviation transition: a new module dedicated to fuel cells for ISAE-SUPAERO and ENAC

New training module on fuel cells for ISAE-SUPAERO and ENAC, by H2PULSE

Video recordings are now complete. Starting next academic year, a new module entitled “Introduction to Fuel Cells – Principles, Technologies, and Orders of Magnitude” will enrich the curriculum of the new Specialized Master’s degree program dedicated to the aviation transition.

This module was designed and delivered by H2PULSE as part of an ambitious program jointly run by ENAC (French National School of Civil Aviation) and ISAE-SUPAERO. International and fully digital, it is aimed at professionals in the aerospace sector who wish to evolve into roles as architects of the energy transition.

Providing the essential keys to understanding

In a context where hydrogen and electrification are playing an increasingly important role in air transport decarbonization scenarios, fuel cells are attracting growing interest. But between technological promises and the realities of system integration, many challenges remain.

This is precisely where this new module developed by H2PULSE comes in.

The aim is not to train specialists in electrochemistry, but to provide learners with the essential reference points: fundamental physical principles, orders of magnitude, system architectures, and key technological trade-offs. In other words, to enable them to interact effectively with experts, evaluate technical solutions, and integrate real-world constraints into their architectural decisions.

A system-oriented approach grounded on industrial reality

Integrated into the Energy teaching unit, within the module dedicated to the impacts of new onboard energy systems, this course addresses fuel cell systems from a resolutely systemic perspective.

The pedagogical approach focuses on scenario-based learning, the analysis of concrete cases, and the commented reading of technical data from the industrial world.

The ambition is clear: to place the concepts into the reality of aircraft architectures and anchor knowledge in an operational perspective.

Making a concrete contribution to the sector’s transition

Training engineers capable of reasoning in terms of orders of magnitude, technological trade-offs, and system integration is a key lever for supporting the transformation of air transport.

Through this contribution to the Specialized Master’s program, H2PULSE is proud to help foster the emergence of professionals able to structure this transition with technical rigor, systemic vision, and a deep understanding of energy challenges.
